About Harbor Well Care Group

More Than Home Care.
A Clinical Partnership.

Harbor Well Care Group was founded on the belief that every person receiving in-home care deserves the same clinical coordination they would receive in a hospital — delivered with compassion and dignity in the place they call home.

We are not a staffing agency. We are a structured, RN Oversight–supervised care organization. Every caregiver completes 14 documented training requirements, a 25-skill RN competency sign-off, and the Alison Diploma in Nursing & Patient Care before serving a single client.

Our Defining Differentiator

RN Oversight —
Active on Every Single Client

Most non-medical agencies assign a caregiver and step back. Harbor Well assigns a caregiver and keeps a Registered Nurse Oversight supervisor actively engaged throughout the entire care relationship — no exceptions, at any tier.

Initial RN Assessment

Every new client begins with a full in-home RN Oversight assessment — ADL evaluation, home safety review, family interview, and a written individualized care plan before the first caregiver shift.

Ongoing Supervisory Visits

The RN Oversight supervisor conducts scheduled and unannounced visits based on care tier. Every visit is documented — creating a complete clinical record of oversight for every client.

Clinical Communication Bridge

Our RN Oversight supervisor is the professional link between client, family, caregiver, and medical providers. Condition changes and care plan updates are always managed through the RN.

FAQ

Questions Families Ask Us Most Often

We know choosing in-home care is an important decision. Here are the answers we give families and providers every day.

Still have questions?
Call us or send a message — we get back to you the same day, no question too small.
📞 Call 205.900.4432
What exactly is non-medical home care? +
Non-medical home care helps people with activities of daily living — bathing, grooming, meals, housekeeping, medication reminders, companionship, and transportation — without providing clinical or medical services. Our caregivers do not administer medications or perform wound care. What we provide is compassionate daily support supervised by an RN Oversight supervisor who ensures every client stays safe and their needs are met appropriately.
How is Harbor Well different from other home care agencies? +
The main difference is our active RN Oversight model. Most non-medical agencies assign a caregiver and check in rarely. Harbor Well assigns RN Oversight to every single client — regardless of tier — who conducts regular supervisory visits, maintains a written care plan, and serves as the clinical point of contact for family and providers. Our caregivers also complete a nursing diploma, 14 documented training items, and a 25-skill RN sign-off before serving a single client.
How quickly can care start? +
In most situations, care begins within 3–5 business days from first contact — which includes the free consultation, RN Oversight home assessment, care plan creation, and caregiver matching. For urgent hospital discharge situations, we work directly with your discharge planning team to expedite the process. Call us at 205.900.4432 and let us know it is urgent.
What areas of Alabama do you serve? +
We currently serve Birmingham and surrounding communities including Hoover, Vestavia Hills, Homewood, Mountain Brook, Trussville, Gardendale, Bessemer, Pelham, and the greater Jefferson and Shelby County areas. Contact us at 205.900.4432 to confirm coverage in your specific zip code.
Who pays for non-medical home care? +
Most families pay privately (out of pocket). Long-term care insurance policies often cover non-medical home care — we provide all required documentation for claims including care plans, RN Oversight assessment reports, and visit logs. We can help you understand which options may apply to your situation during the free consultation.
What if my loved one doesn't connect with their caregiver? +
We do careful matching based on personality, communication style, and care needs — not just availability. That said, if a match doesn't feel right, tell us. We will find an alternative caregiver without penalty or lengthy process. Your loved one's comfort in their own home is our priority above everything else.
What is the difference between home health and home care? +
Home health (with RNs, PTs, OTs) is medically ordered, insurance-billed, and designed for short-term skilled clinical intervention. Non-medical home care (what Harbor Well provides) is ongoing daily support — meals, bathing, companionship, transportation — for people who need everyday assistance but not skilled nursing procedures. Many clients receive both services simultaneously.
Is there a minimum number of hours per visit? +
Yes — we require a minimum of 4 hours per visit. This ensures every visit is meaningful, the caregiver has time to complete the care routine properly, and the client-caregiver relationship has time to build comfortably. There is no minimum number of visits per week — frequency is determined by your loved one's needs and your family's budget.
